Up Coming Fun (lol)
O.K. Up coming fun........for some. :) Just thinking of 6 days of dress up and I'm feeling the headache. No.....this will be fun.
Next week is Red Ribbon Week........Say NO to drugs, alcohol and tobacco! Each day has a theme which will lend its self for dress-up. I'm sitting at home racking my brain trying to remember each day and it is just not coming. I do remember Monday (24th) and Friday (28th). Monday is Crazy Hair day and Friday is Pajama day. I won't be at school tomorrow (Dr.'s appointment) but when I get back I'll run into school and let you know what all the days are. The 6th day of dress up is the next Monday, Halloween.
The 1st term of school ends on Oct. 31st. Report cards will not be mailed but can be picked up at Parent/Teacher conferences. For kindergarten conferences will be held all day on Nov. 10. Call the schools office for an appointment.

Fire Safety Week
This week is Fire Safety Week. We have talk about what to do if there is a fire. Crawl low and stay out of the smoke. Stop, Drop, and Roll. Call 911. This might be a good time to practice a fire drill at your home. Also please visit with them about only using 911 in an emergency.
This week is also National Principal Week.
I am headed off to school myself this week. Mrs. Ashley Jackson will be teaching Kindergarten on Thursday and Friday. Thursday Nurse Colleen is coming in to teach hand washing and others skills to help us stay healthier.
I have been having Study Sheets (homework) coming back without a parent signature. Remember to sign each one. Thanks for all you do at home to support the learning we do at school.

End of the Week
I'm not sure what happened to our week. It just zipped right past.
We had school pictures taken this week. A big thanks to Mr. Peterson and his patience in working with K kids. I don't know why but it is really hard for some to sit like he wants and smile. He truly spends the time needed to try and get the best possible picture.
We have finished learning the correct way to write the numerals 0 - 9. Have your child show you what he/she has learned. There is also a poem that goes with each numeral.
We put on our science lab coats (imaginary ones) and talk about the differences of night and day. It would be a great family homework assignment to spend some time outside after dark talking about what you see.
We made witches for art and when our 5th grade buddies came in they helped us write a witch story. I wish I could take a picture of them all and post them. 40 is a little to much I think. They are hanging in the hall just outside our classroom and you are welcome to come to school and read them. They are great. (I'd post a picture but I'm home right now. Maybe Monday.)
